Aim: promoting Asset-Based Assessment
Grade 10 Math Exemplar - MPM2D - Mr. Mokhtarzada Teaching
Thinking Cycle Evaluation Days. Promoting asset-based assessment in non-test contexts for kids and generating good 'math talks' around the classroom when teams of students work in teams while walking around and writing on VESs (Vertical Erasable Surfaces).
Designed to appeal to student multiple intelligences (Gardiner) and their lived experiences by embedding the problems within rich real-life contexts that are varied and diverse and appealing and relevant and relatable to student daily life experiences: (Sports - Basketball, Food Truck - Finance, Engineering - Roller Coasters, Drones - Amazon Delivery, Architecture - Bridges, Water Fountains).
It is designed to increase engagement by giving kids CHOICE, by reaching up higher on the Bloom's taxonomy towards higher order thinking, evaluating, interpreting, creating ... to help students transition from being passive consumers of disconnected bits and pieces of knowledge towards becoming active producers of knowledge dots and bits that are interconnected ...
